The Juneau Arts & Humanities commissioned me to design a pre-show animation showcasing all their sponsors. This animation was shown before their concerts and events while people coming to see the show would take their seats. The animation video itself is just 8 minutes long and would loop until the show began. Depending on how much the sponsor contributed determined how large and how frequent their name displayed in the animation. It took 32 hours to make using Adobe After Effects.

www.insidepassagemidwifery.com was set up using Drupal for the back end. This allowed for much more functionality than merely setting up a blog. Dr. Gillespie can control many elements of the site herself as well as her patients. There is a Newborn section that indexes all of the babies that Dr. Gillespie has delivered, which can be sorted by name, weight, date of birth, or searched through. Testimonials from the mothers are linked to the babies, and parents can submit photos after their baby is born. Ryan Stanley helped optimize the Drupal set up. I also designed the logo for IPM.

Rack Cards I designed for Above & Beyond Alaska, LLC. that are available at the airport, hotels, on the cruise boats and other tourist locations, promoting the different activities and services ABAK provides. Mostly Adobe In Design & Illustrator work, plus working with the printers to make sure these cards were at print quality. Initial concept by Bret Connell.

www.dremilykane.com was a fairly simple customized Word Press install. I did apply some additional PHP database features that would automatically organize Dr. Kane’s published articles into an index for easy reference, and stay updated when she adds new articles. This was my first site were I could really optimize the use of google ads and google analytics. Dr. Kane is a published Naturopathic Doctore and a lot of her articles drive traffic back to her site. Using google ads I was able to create an additional income based on that traffic.

www.wostmann.com is the site I designed and coded in 2007 for Wostmann & Associates, Inc. This was a much more professional design than a sleek graphic design. The site was built primarily in PHP and some CSS elements, with a MySQL database backend. The top menu is the only DHTML/javascript element of the site. A backend CMS was developed so staff in Anchorage, Juneau, and elswhere can update their news items and project details. Wostmann & Associates is one of the largest private IT professional companies in Alaska and Alaska Grafix is proud to have designed their website.

Two poster designs I was comissioned to do for the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD) in 2005 to help promote Alaska’s new seat belt laws. These photoshopped posters were hung in Department of Motor Vehicle stations across the state.

A clipart series I designed for the Alaska State Legislature’s End of Session Press packet in 2004. The individual pieces were assigned to the pages of topics such as veteran’s benefits, fighting crime, education, resource development, government reform, etc.

The contreversial logo design for my funk/jazz band I played bass guitar for from 2004-2006, called “Satan’s Taint.” Yes, we had a lot of fun with the name. People didn’t know what to think. Most thought we were some heavy hard rock band and would come see us funk out or play Dave Brubeck. For the summer of 2005 we played at the Alaskan Bar every Tuesday for “Taint Tuesdays”. The T-Shirts were very popular and I still have some available at satanstaint.com.

A poster design I did for some friends of mine’s band, Dag Nabbit, for their Halloween show in 2003. It was a quicky last minute thing, but a fun project. I guess I was really doing the music scene in the early 2000s.

“False Feeling of Freedom” was the title of the only album produced from the band Contra Public, which I played bass guitar for from 2001-2004. This was the CD cover and booklet design I put together for the album. The design is a little retro by today’s standards with only using basic Photoshop filter effects. You can read more about the band at at the Rock Alaska Records site, and you can still buy the CD at CD Baby.
